Martin Limited Edition CS-OM-13

LTD Edition Custom Shop 6-string Acoustic Guitar with Madagascar Rosewood Back/Sides, Swiss Spruce Top, Hardwood Neck, Ebony Fretboard, and Hard Case - Gloss Natural

I am the original owner. I bought it new in 2013 from Westwood Music in LA. It has lived in my smoke-free, pet-free studio ever since and has never been gigged or modified in any way. I have not even played it all that much, so it's basically like buying a new guitar.

Features

Madagascar rosewood back & sides, high altitude Swiss Spruce top, scalloped Golden Era style 5/16” top braces, exclusive mix of Adirondack and Sitka spruce bracing, quilted bubinga body and fingerboard binding, exclusive pearl-bound, scalloped red diamond fret markers, Madagascar rosewood bridge plate.

With its combination of contemporary design and historical features, the CS-OM-13 offers new dimensions in tone and aesthetics, while emulating some of the best, traditional Orchestra Models ever created. Built for resonance and responsiveness, it is ideal for nuanced playing in the deft hands of a master fingerstyle guitarist, but it can just as easily hold its own when under the pick-and-strumming required for the cowboy songs of Gene Autry and Roy Rodgers, who first popularized the OM guitars of the early 1930s.

Fred Greene, VP of Manufacturing at Martin designed the guitar. He said the Custom Shop team wanted to build on the legacy of the OM platform and show that C.F. Martin’s legacy continues to progress. “The premise of all CS models has been to continue to evolve classic Martin designs and tonal characteristics. We wanted a guitar that felt welcoming and familiar without looking or sounding like something we had already done.”

Materials

The entire guitar is built with hot hide glue, normally an expensive upcharge at Martin. The back and sides are made from solid Madagascar rosewood that comes with a high gloss finish. Madagascar rosewood offers cosmetic beauty similar to Brazilian rosewood while including grain patterns found nowhere else. And for sound, it has dazzling high harmonics singing over its distinctive tonal pallet, which might be described as a combination of open mahogany clarity and rich rosewood complexity.

High-altitude Swiss spruce top sounds amazing

It may sound like a gimmick, but there's a solid reason the Martin CS-OM-13 Custom Series acoustic responds so well to your touch. In the high-altitude regions of Switzerland, the growing season is incredibly short. That means the spruce grown there has a tighter, more rigid grain structure. It's incredibly strong for its weight, and responds to the slightest vibration. You'll be able to coax everything from subtle, muted tones to bell-like piano sounds with just your fingers with the CS-OM-13.

Elegant appointments make this a collectible limited edition

Everywhere you look on the Martin CS-OM-13 Custom Series acoustic there's the mark of a true artist. For example, the body binding is actually quilted bubinga, and the inlays are pearl and red spiny reconstituted stone with a Mother-of-Pearl border. The Waverly nickel tuners actually have snakewood knobs. If you've been waiting for the chance to own a museum-quality Martin, here's your chance.

Epic quality from Martin's Custom Shop

When you choose a Martin Custom Series acoustic guitar, you're getting an instrument that was designed and hand-built by some of the best luthiers on the planet. The exotic tonewoods and fancy appointments are exceptional, but there are a lot of features in the CS-OM-13 Custom Series acoustic that Martin has refined over decades. You won't things like the scalloped "X" bracing and hide- glue construction while you're playing it, but the tone speaks for itself.
